Kids Scuba Party
We always like this time of the year. The hectic pace of completing open water courses in summer is behind us and for some reason we always receive an influx of bookings for scuba parties.
This Sunday we will be teaching 8 x 8 year old boys. Despite the loudness and over enthusiasm many of the kids bring they are generally a joy to teach. Their first breaths underwater can be a nervous time but it is always totally exhilarating. They then generally want to listen to every word of their PADI instructor to find out what they are going to learn next.
We teach them a few safety skills such as how to clear water out of their mask while underwater, what happens if the regulator pops out of their mouth and how to keep an eye on their air pressure.
The bit that they always seem to enjoy the most is going for a swim to the 2m deep end followed by a game of underwater frisbee.
For parents scuba parties provide a fun and novel experience and the memories will last a life-time. For us it’s a great change from teach the same courses every weekend and we also get to see the joy of someone becoming intoxicated by joy.
