PADI Underwater Naturalist Course

MINIMUM AGE: 10 years old
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a PADI Open Diver certification or higher.
Diving is all about what you can see, and for many divers, that is all about the wildlife. With the PADI Underwater Naturalist course, get a better understanding about the local ecosystem and the differences between terrestrial and aquatic worlds. See new things, notice new patters, spot different behaviours of aquatic life that you thought you knew everything about!
The course lasts 1 day, to complete your 2 open water dives. You’ll learn all about the key differences between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds, major aquatic life groupings, interactions, information (and what is disinformation!), and how to properly interact with marine life.
This course is 2 dives, completed at Mercers Lake, Widewater (shore dive), possibly on one of our club trips.

PADI’s Manual lets you read about the aquatic realm in your own time.
All equipment hire. (If you are drysuit qualified, you have the option of renting one at an extra fee.)

*Does not include entry to the lake (£15) and £5 for additional air fills.

The Skills You Will Learn on Your PADI Underwater Naturalist course
You will start your training by discussing the key differences between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds. You’ll also learn:
- Major aquatic life groups
- Species interactions
- Information that dispels myths
- Reasonable interactions with aquatic life
- How to keep our aquatic environments clean
The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver or Master Scuba Diver certification.
