Tapwood Lake – Unguided Dives
Up to 34m Deep and Close to London

Tapwood Lake, Surrey Hills – the newest dive site
Set in 20 acres of countryside, Tapwood has only just launched and is restricted to only a small number of dive centres.
What sets this lake apart is that it has a maximum depth of 34m so is ideally for deeper water training and practice.
As a former silica sand quarry it means that visibility is generally good, even at depth.

Address
Tapwood Lake, Reigate Rd, Buckland, Reigate RH2 9RE
The lake is located just off the M25 and very close to Reigate.

Nearest rail station
Betchworth (BTO) is geographically the closest railway station. It is on the Great Western Railway North Downs Line, but trains are relatively infrequent, approximately every two hours, and importantly there is no taxi rank at Betchworth, so a taxi would need to be pre-booked.
Reigate is the more practical nearby station, while Redhill is probably the best London connection overall because it has considerably more frequent trains.
Nearest bus stop
The useful bus is the No. 32, which runs between Redhill – Reigate – Buckland – Betchworth – Dorking – Guildford.
The closest stop to Tapwood is The Pheasant, Buckland, on the A25/Reigate Road. It is only a short walk from the Tapwood area; published public-transport information puts it at roughly a 2-minute walk from Tapwood.
One important catch: the 32 is a Monday–Saturday service, so it isn’t a good solution for Sunday dive days.
