Scuba Equipment Rental Terms (UK)
By renting equipment from OYSTER LUXURY TRAVEL AND DIVING LIMITED, you agree to the Equipment Rental Terms outlined below.
All renters must confirm their acceptance of these terms before collecting any equipment. Submission of the form below constitutes a legally binding agreement.
These rental terms explain your responsibilities when using our equipment and help ensure safety, consistency, and fairness for all divers.
Your Responsibility for Rental Equipment
You are fully responsible for all equipment from the moment it is issued to you until it has been inspected and accepted back by our team.
This includes:
- Loss or theft
- Damage
- Missing components (including bolt snaps, clips, or cam bands)
Equipment must be returned in a clean and serviceable condition. Excessive dirt, salt build-up, or neglect may result in cleaning or servicing charges.
Charges & Payment Authorisation
The customer agrees to pay all costs associated with repair, replacement, reconfiguration, cleaning, or late return of equipment on demand.
Where a payment method has been provided, the customer authorises OYSTER LUXURY TRAVEL AND DIVING LIMITED to charge this payment method for any such amounts.
If payment cannot be taken, the customer remains liable for all costs and any reasonable recovery or administrative fees incurred.
Safe Use of Scuba Equipment
All rental equipment must be:
- Used within the limits of your certification and experience
- Handled responsibly and with care
Equipment must not be:
- Shared with other divers
- Sub-rented or transferred to another user
Technical Diving Equipment (Twinsets, Sidemount & More)
We supply specialist technical diving equipment, including:
- Twinsets and backplate & wing systems
- Sidemount configurations
- Regulator systems and accessories
These setups are carefully configured and must be returned exactly as issued, including all components, attachment points, hose routing, and configuration.
You must not:
- Adjust cam bands on twinsets
- Remove or replace bolt snaps or clips
- Modify sidemount wings, harnesses, or bungee systems
- Change hose routing or regulator configuration
If equipment is returned altered, incomplete, or requiring reconfiguration, charges will apply.
Returns & Inspection Policy
If equipment is returned:
- At a pool session, or
- Directly to an instructor
Please note:
Equipment is not inspected at the point of return and acceptance is subject to full inspection.
Equipment returned outside of the Oyster shop will be inspected within 5 business days.
If items are missing, damaged, or incorrectly configured, we will contact you and apply the relevant charges.
Late Returns
Equipment must be returned on the agreed date.
Late returns may incur:
- Additional rental charges
- A late fee charged at the standard daily rental rate per item
Liability & Assumption of Risk
Scuba diving is an activity with inherent risks, including serious injury or death.
By agreeing to these terms, you confirm that:
- You are appropriately trained or supervised
- You are competent to use the equipment
You accept full responsibility for your use of the equipment.
The customer accepts all risks associated with the use of the equipment, including those arising from improper use, configuration changes, or failure to follow training and safety procedures.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OYSTER LUXURY TRAVEL AND DIVING LIMITED, its employees, instructors, and agents shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of rental equipment.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Customers are responsible for ensuring they are suitably trained, competent, and physically fit to use the equipment hired, and that it is used in accordance with accepted diving practices and training standards.
