From April to December, join us for one of our unforgettable diving trips to Malta, where you can immerse yourself in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. Whether youā€™re looking for a long weekend of exciting dives or want to extend your stay and turn it into a full holiday, Malta offers something for everyone. Itā€™s the perfect destination for divers of all levels – from seasoned experts to those completing their open water certification.

Malta is widely regarded as the top diving spot in the Mediterranean, boasting incredible visibility, endless sunshine, fascinating wrecks, and dramatic underwater landscapes. Best of all, itā€™s just a short flight from the UK, with numerous airports offering direct routes, so you can be enjoying Maltaā€™s underwater treasures in just a few hours.

The trips are suitable for divers of any level. You will need to complete a refresher if you haven’t dived in 6 months or more which you can do with us.

To keep costs to a minimum, a member of the Oyster Team won’t be present on most trips but our partner centre in Malta will take good care of you. We also set up a WhatsApp group so all of our customers can liaise with each other before and during the trip.

We can also cater for other groups and clubs.

Paradise Bay Resort is our preferred home from home while in Malta. It offers a prime location near Cirkewwa, the island’s top dive site known for its diverse marine life and wrecks.

The resort provides easy access to boat dives around the stunning waters of Comino, home to the famous Comino Caves, and is just a short ferry ride from Gozo, where divers can explore more remarkable sites like the Blue Hole.

Prices vary on the time of year and the amount of time you wish to stay there but to give you an idea a package including return economy flights from a London airport with 10kg of luggage, 4 nights accommodation on a B&B basis, including transfers to/from the airport based on 2 sharing.

Malta, Gozo, and Comino offer some of the Mediterranean’s most exciting and varied dive sites, suitable for divers of all levels. Hereā€™s a guide to the top dive spots, including depths and experience requirements.

Malta

  1. Cirkewwa
    • Depth: 5-35 meters
    • Experience Level: Beginner to Advanced
    • Description: Cirkewwa is Maltaā€™s most popular dive site and is on the door step of Paradise Bay and dive centre. With stunning underwater topography and abundant marine life. Highlights include the P29 Patrol Boat wreck (at around 30 meters) and the Madonna Statue, perfect for beginner divers. Advanced divers can explore the deeper reefs and tunnels.
  2. HMS Maori (Valletta)
    • Depth: 12-18 meters
    • Experience Level: Beginner
    • Description: The wreck of the HMS Maori, a British destroyer from WWII, lies just off Vallettaā€™s shore. Sitting in shallow waters, itā€™s ideal for novice divers and those interested in wrecks. The site is home to moray eels, octopuses, and anemones.
  3. Blenheim Bomber (St. Paulā€™s Bay)
    • Depth: 38-42 meters
    • Experience Level: Advanced (Technical Diving Recommended)
    • Description: The wreck of a WWII Blenheim Bomber is a unique dive for wreck enthusiasts. The aircraft lies in deep waters, making it suitable for experienced divers with deep diving or technical qualifications. The intact wings and fuselage offer an eerie glimpse into history.

Gozo

  1. Blue Hole
    • Depth: 5-40 meters
    • Experience Level: Beginner to Advanced
    • Description: The Blue Hole is Gozoā€™s most iconic dive site, located near the collapsed Azure Window. The dive begins through a hole in the limestone before leading to breathtaking underwater arches and caves. Visibility is often superb, and divers can spot barracudas, groupers, and vibrant sponges.
  2. Inland Sea
    • Depth: 5-30 meters
    • Experience Level: Beginner to Advanced
    • Description: This dive starts in a shallow inland lagoon and passes through a 70-meter tunnel that opens into the open sea. Itā€™s a magical experience with dramatic walls and excellent visibility. Depths are suitable for both beginners and advanced divers, though the tunnel can be challenging for some.
  3. MV Karwela Wreck
    • Depth: 35-42 meters
    • Experience Level: Advanced
    • Description: One of Gozo’s premier wreck dives, the Karwela was purposely sunk to create an artificial reef. The wreck is easily accessible with its spacious deck and staircases still intact, providing exciting exploration opportunities for experienced divers.

Comino

  1. Santa Maria Caves
    • Depth: 5-20 meters
    • Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate
    • Description: The Santa Maria Caves are a group of scenic caves and tunnels with stunning light effects and an abundance of fish, including bream and moray eels. The shallow depths make it a perfect spot for novice divers, but the intricate cave system will captivate more experienced divers as well.
  2. Comino Caves (aka The Blue Lagoon)
    • Depth: 6-25 meters
    • Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate
    • Description: Famous for its turquoise waters, the Blue Lagoon also features a network of caves and swim-throughs perfect for beginner and intermediate divers. The site offers plenty of marine life, including parrotfish, octopuses, and nudibranchs.

Is it is suitable for singles and families

Yes! Our group trips are really popular for single travellers, couples and groups of friends. Families are welcome but we generally arrange it as a non-group holiday. There is plenty of things to do when you aren’t diving, such as using one of the hotel pools, visiting some of the historical sites around the island or jumping on the ferry to Gozo for dinner.

How experienced do you have to be?

We take a range of divers there from those still learning to dive, to season pros and technical divers.

Can I take scuba diving courses while I'm in Malta?

Yes, our partner centre caters for all courses from beginner to professional level qualifications. Like us they are a PADI dive centre with a great reputation.

Mellieħa

Mellieħa is a 10 minute taxi ride to Mellieha, a picturesque village in the north of Malta, offers a variety of dining options that showcase both traditional Maltese cuisine and international flavours. Here are some of our favourite places to eat in Mellieħa:
