A very early start on Saturday 23rd March 2013
for 15 of the girls from Headington School in Oxford, who are being accompanied
by three of their lucky teachers on a diving safari to the Egyptian Red Sea.
Through driving wind, snow and sleet the girls arrived at
the airport on time and checked-in their bags and diving kit.
Despite awful weather conditions the plane only departed a
few minutes late and the 5 hour flight meant the girls could catch up on
watching some films and reading books.
On arrival at Sharm el Sheikh airport we got our passports
stamped, collected our luggage and our coach took us the 20 minute drive to the
international port where our home for the week, Snefro Love, awaited our berth.
We were greeted by the crew of the boat and our guides for
the week, Alex and Bassim. After some light refreshments we received our boat
briefing, a tour of the dive boat and had a nice dinner before sitting out on
deck and heading to bed.

Last night seven of us made our way down to the London Dive Chamber in Central London. We were greeted there by a friendly team who handed us our blue scrubs, made us complete a quick quiz (the reason for which will be come clear later on) and gave us a short presentation and safety briefing on our impending 50m dry dive.There were definitely a few butterflys amongst the group as the deepest that most of had ever dived was to 40m so we weren't sure how we would react with the effects of Narcosis caused by the effects of breathing Nitrogen in air at pressure.We entered the chamber through the door cut out of the 1 inch steel thick tank. We sat on the benches and put our head phones to protect us from the noise of rushing air entering the chamber. Andreas placed his dive computer in a bucket of water next to me which we were told would protect it and we started our decent.I was surprised about how often you had to equalise your ears, far more frequently then if you are in water. We are running another Red Sea liveaboard diving holiday from 15-27th November 2013. Last year we saw loads of sharks, experienced some thrilling drift dives and were in awe at the some of the wall dives.
We will be aboard one of Blueotwo's motor yachts the Blue Melody, a 5* luxury liveaboard. Dive sites will include the world famous Elphinstone, Brother Islands and Daedulus Reefs and coincides with the Oceanic White Tip and Thresher Sharks.
